2009 Polaris® RZR S 800

The 2009 Polaris RZR S 800 is powered by a high-output 760cc twin-cylinder four-stroke engine, specifically the liquid-cooled Polaris High Output (H.O.) engine. This parallel-twin design features electronic fuel injection (EFI) for reliable throttle response and consistent power delivery across a wide range of conditions and elevations. The engine produces around 55 horsepower, which was quite robust for its class in 2009, offering a solid power-to-weight ratio. It is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), equipped with Polaris' PVT system for seamless power transfer and low-end torque — ideal for off-road terrain, steep inclines, and technical trails.

Aerodynamically, the RZR S 800 was never designed for high-speed highway efficiency but rather for minimizing drag and enhancing stability at moderate off-road speeds. Its relatively low and wide stance, thanks to the 60-inch width, helped reduce body roll and improved cornering grip. The RZR S features a sculpted front hood and side panels that help channel air around the cockpit and away from key engine components for better cooling. The semi-enclosed cab and roll cage also contribute to structural rigidity and a predictable airflow pattern, which—while not “aerodynamic” in a traditional sense—provides balance and stability when navigating through wind resistance at higher trail speeds.
